Working Out Made More Fun

Working out is one of the best things we can do for our health and wellness. Yet according to a government study, almost 80 percent of American adults don’t get the recommended amount of exercise per week. Why is this? It’s simple, working out isn’t fun. In fact, anything that has the word “work” in it normally isn’t. However, with a couple of tips working out can feel good and may even be slightly fun.

The first tip is to find a friend to accompany you. Working out with a companion is more fun because they provide healthy competition that will keep you focused and driven. It is hard to test your own abilities during solo workouts. An outside source can tell you if you need more weight, form looks wrong, etc. A friend will also hold you accountable and can be the extra push you need to get to the gym.

The next tip is to take your workout outside. A change in scenery can make you feel more relaxed while working out. We spend so much of our lives inside that it’s good to step outside for a while. Also, another major benefit is soaking up some vitamin D which is said to help with weight loss and mental health.

The final tip is to blast your favorite music. Nothing puts you more in the zone than an upbeat tune, which might be motivation to work out after a long day. The Guardian has even reported that music can benefit athletic performance by up to 15 percent.  You can customize your playlist with songs that you love and that increase your mood. Better moods lead to better workouts.

Overall, working out is what you make it and can easily be made more fun. Since exercise is so vital to our health it’s important to try to make it more enjoyable and continue to try new things. These tips might be what you need to get healthy and start your workout journey.
